Sumant, I'm new at this but mine looks pretty straightforward. I wonder if you're missing a part. The pointed piece that pokes into the gear to lock the beam is attached to a spring. That spring is connected by a wire to a foot pedal on the front floor cross beam, the support beam to which the treadles are hinged. I step on the pedal and the warp beam is released. Is yours set up that way?

ReplyDeleteI will be learning to weave on an early 1950's Payton 45" Floor Loom with Sectional Warp.
It is an old work horse with many hours use by previous owner but seems forgiving enough for this beginner.
Mine is a Nilus 36" jack, 4 harness with previous owner experience. Unfortunately, it's currently warped for a rug project so, I'm hoping to rent a table-top for the class projects.
